Joyful Spring Things
We know it's mid-February, but we are living delusionally until spring is here.
Hello and Happy Sunday!
Savannah and I are writing to you from our bed on this fine Sunday morning in Mexico.
Because our youngest brother, Campbell, was going to be on a school trip this week, my parents decided to take themselves on a mini vacation to Mexico. Hopefully they weren’t expecting a romantic solo vacay because their three eldest children (us and our brother Walker) took it upon ourselves to join them. I told my mom that when she sent three kids off to college, she probably wasn’t expecting to see them as much as she does :))) But for real, as much as we couldn’t pass up a trip to a warm, sunny destination, it was more that we couldn’t pass up a trip with our parents 🤍
As we’ve been lounging lazily in the sunshine, listening to Kenny Chesney over the speakers, and drinking coconut water by the pool, we’ve been brainwashed into thinking that spring and summer are right around the corner. In our minds, it is mid April. We are fully aware that it is the middle of February, but we’ve decided to live delusionally as though spring is right around the corner, until it really is. So to keep our spirits high, we’ve put together a list of all the spring things we’re excited about.
The first blossoms on the tree outside our apartment window
Wearing shorts and no sweater for the first time
The sun rising at 6am
Classes coming to an end
Sitting outside while eating lunch
Making a multi-layered cake with wildflowers
8pm sunsets
Having tulips in the house
The feeling of the sunshine warming your face
Orange wine
The sounds of nature coming back to life again
Sourdough pastries
The farmer’s market filled with colorful fruits and vegetables
Iced coffees
Citrus fruits
Putting the boxes of winter clothes away in storage
The melting of ice and snow
How green the world turns
The buzzing of bees
Seeing kids playing outside on their lawn again
A warm breeze coming through an open window
Picnics on a checkered blanket with friends
Charcuterie boards
Flowy dresses with a soft cardigan
The whole world waking up from a deep, cold hibernation
We know that spring is still a few months away, but it’s never too early to start getting excited. Winter has its own set of beautiful things, but there is nothing like the first sign of spring. To the longer, warmer, greener days, right around the corner… <3 See you all next Sunday!
Have fun in Mexico, Spoor familia!
