Hello and happy Sunday.
Actually, it’s not our happiest Sunday. We woke up this morning feeling blah. Blakely had insomnia and couldn’t fall asleep until 2:30am, I had a good night’s sleep but am feeling extremely overwhelmed. LOL. So safe to say, we are not thriving today. Exhausted, stressed, and overloaded, yes. But not thriving.
We don’t really want to do anything today (something that doesn’t come naturally to us. Odd right?). So in an effort to cope with this sad Sunday, we are coming back to the basics. First up is cleaning. Blakely went on a walk to cleanse herself of her horrible night while I went on a cleaning bender. Mopping, vacuuming, wiping, the whole nine yards. We thought that cleaning would help us stabilize, and we were right. Never underestimate the power of cleaning.
Then, we put on our new playlist. We’ve been listening to the same compilation of songs for the past month because we haven’t gotten around to updating our playlist. It was still named “Pending” because we couldn’t even think of a name for it. Enough of that, we said, and I made two new playlists to freshen up the vibe.
Then, we hydrated. We have an intensive morning lineup of beverages. Today, I did lemon water, then Cymbiotica greens, then coffee. Blakely had celery juice and a coconut chai latte. We also just ordered some trace minerals for our water, because we learned that our water filter is stripping away some essential minerals. So even if we’re cranky and tired, at least we’ll be thoroughly hydrated.
Next, we meal-prepped. We prepped oven-roasted Japanese sweet potatoes, lemon chicken, and banana bread. I might even attempt to recycle our bread and make it into croutons. Nothing says new week like a clean kitchen and prepped fridge.
Lastly, we set up our night to include a few things we love so that we have something to look forward to. Those things are making banana bread (recipe coming soon) and watching the newest episode of 1923, our current favorite TV show besides the OG Gilmore Girls. These things sound small, but sometimes, life just sucks and that’s when you need the little things most.
A notable mention to our broken dishwasher that had to be replaced (and then proceeded to leak), a painful stye (first-time stye goer here), two clogged shower drains, horrible dreams (messing up business calls, a forever-unhealed neck click, etc), and too many school papers to write. They say, when it rains it pours.
Sad Sundays are just a part of the deal. Getting back to these basics helps us recenter and make it through the day. We are telling ourselves to take a chill pill, and remember that this too shall pass.
Lots of love,
b&s
I love this so much
In Gray's Anatomy, when one of the characters was down in the dumpsters in their homes, they would turn on music and dance. Just dance. Here is a song you may want to play and just plain dance. ❤️
